FANS of Australian-built motor vehicles have the opportunity to take part in the annual Aussie Crawl, from Invercargill to Te Anau and return, on Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20.
Entries are open to financial members of the Southland Holden Enthusiasts Club, Southland Ford Falcon Club, Southern Aussie Muscle Club and Riviera Touring Club, until tomorrow.
Organising the crawl was alternated between the Southland Ford Falcon Club and the Southland Holden Enthusiasts Club.
Organised this year by the Southland Holden Enthusiasts Club, club secretary Rod Pearson said participants would meet at the Ascot Park Hotel on the Saturday at 9.30am, before leaving at 10am.
“There would be several stops along the way including a lunch break for entrants, with the option of staying overnight in Te Anau.”
Due to Covid-19 and last year’s lockdown, the last event was held in 2019, he said.
Although the number of entries varied each year, generally numbers ranged from 150 to 250 people and 50 to 60 vehicles of Australian manufacture including Holden, Ford and Valiants, Mr Pearson said.
“All entrants receive a goodie bag on the day and prizes are awarded to best Holden, Ford and Valiant, along with runners-up of each make. These are judged by a mystery judge at the Ascot before leaving on the Saturday,” he said.
“Prizes for each make are also awarded at the various stops along the way, as well as prizes for best dressed.”
