Riverside drivers earn NZ honours

Riverside Speedway member Graham Williamson won the Best Presented at the Speedway New Zealand Awards recently.

RIVERSIDE Speedway is toasting two of its members who were honoured at the Speedway New Zealand Awards recently.

Harrison Brown won the award for Youth Saloon Driver Of The Year, an award well deserved after winning the Southland Championship two years running and being the man to beat in the grade.

Brown not only races youth saloons but is very competitive in youth mini stocks, claiming several race wins in the class. He is certainly a talent to watch out for in the future.

The Best Presented award was won, for the second time, by Graham Williamson for his amazing-looking Hypermac Ford Mustang.

Williamson rolled the car out midway through the season and it was simply a head turner from day one.

Shane McIntyre did an amazing job building the car and Roger Nees, who has designed several of Williamson’s liveries, did an outstanding job of bringing the creation to life with a striking design job.

Williamson’s team, X Factor Racing, has always been about displaying a professional image, and has shown this during many seasons with the team and car always looking the part, a true testament to the many hours spent in preparation.

Williamson will be wanting the Mustang to go as good as it looks with the New Zealand Saloon Championships set to take place at his home track, X Factor Cars Riverside Speedway in late January.

The club would celebrate its annual prizegiving on Saturday, August 1.
