Are you after the inside oil on today’s South Island Endurance Series race meeting at Highlands Motorsport Park? Then join 10-year-old Tully Rule on his tour.

This will be the Cromwell Primary School pupil’s third Tully’s Tour, following on from hosting two at the circuit’s Festival of Speed weekend earlier this year.

Accompanied by Highlands’ track operations manager and professional driver Damon Leitch, Tully will provide snippets of inside and behind the scenes information and views on the ins and outs of racing. Those on the tour will meet some of the drivers and teams in the three-hour race and will finish with a visit to the race control room.

Tully’s Tours came about after Highlands’ chief operating officer Josie Spillane was giving a presentation to the senior class at Cromwell Primary about the best things to do in the South Island. She asked the class if there was anything they would like to see or do at Highlands.

‘‘Someone suggested a volcano, another wanted a flying fox, but Tully suggested that we help people who don’t know a lot about motorsport by hosting free guided tours of the pits,’’ Spillane said.

‘‘I thought it was a great idea and so we’ve created Tully’s Tours at Highlands.’’
Tully’s Tours start at 11.10am today from the Paddon Rally Sport garage at the north end of pit lane.
