Subaru sales have continued to skyrocket in North America at the start of 2010 on the back of the recently introduced Legacy and Outback range.
After a record-breaking year in 2009, Subaru of America (SoA) has continued its winning ways in 2010, posting a 28 per cent sales increase in January. The top performing brand in the United States in 2009, in terms of sales gains, SoA sold 15,611 vehicles in January, versus 12,194 a year ago.
The Outback is Subaru's top selling model in the United States, with 5467 units in January, a 117 percent increase over 2009. Legacy sales were up 110 percent to 2448.
"Subaru recently won the Best Mainstream Brand in the annual Automotive Lease Guide (ALG) residual value study as well as placing first in their segments for Forester and Outback models," said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. "These awards praise companies and vehicles predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a three-year period." The Subaru result included sales of 4943 Foresters, 2497 Imprezas and 256 Tribecas.
North of the border, Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) set a new January sales record, retailing 1729 vehicles. The figure is up 45.8 per cent over January 2009. It also surpassed SCI's previous record January, in 2008, by 43.8 percent.
Subaru's sales continue to grow faster than any other Japanese brand in Canada.
It was also the best January for Forester and Outback. Forester sales were up 26.8 percent and Outback 382.9 on January 2009.

Residual Value Study."
Across the Tasman Subaru sales of 3260 vehicles in January were up 7.8 per cent on the same month last year, according to official VFACTS figures.
New generation Legacy and Outback are proving a huge success for the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive brand. Legacy sales of 654 were up 37.1per cent on January 2009, making it the best-selling imported medium car for the month.
Outback sold 435, up a massive 76.8 per cent, while Forester sales of 1205 maintained its best-selling SUV Compact status. Subaru's January market share was 4.4 percent.
