Back to business

Dunedin-based Courtney Duncan (22) left for her European base in Belgium last week, where she will remain for her Women's Motocross World Championship (WMX) season.

The six-round series begins on April 8 in Italy and continues through to September 30 for the final round back in Italy.

Duncan had surgery on her knee and thumb following the final WMX round last year and following a six-month rehabilitation has recently returned to riding.

It will be her third season aiming for the top spot, after luck deserted her while she was in title contention the previous two years.

Words of wisdom

English writer Peter Dron has released a book entitled The good, the mad and the ugly ... not to mention Jeremy Clarkson, which takes a light-hearted look at what the author considers to have been the golden age of motoring journalism - the last two decades of the 20th century.

There are stories about industry moguls and unusual motoring journalists, as well as where Dron thinks the motor industry and motoring journalism has gone wrong.

The founding editor of Fast Lane, Dron is now a freelance writer with a weekly column in The Daily Telegraph.
